And now we are at the base of the ramparts that surrounded this settlement, a place of pleasant shade.
Built in the Iron Age by the founding peoples of this place, the wall followed the natural shape of the platforms and - as on the upper platform - was built with double wall lines. The inner line simultaneously functioned as the wall of the compartments adjacent to the fortification, and the outer line was the reinforcement of the wall. In between the two, the large earth fills strengthened the entire structure.
As the entrances to this fortified settlement are not yet known, we already know that the walls functioned essentially as a reference point in the landscape, more than an invincible place.
In the republican period - with the arrival of the Romans - there is the annulment of the original defensive system of the settlement. This was because the Romans imposed a pact of coexistence with the residents, for the submission of the conquered populations.
