Housed in a 16th-century building, formerly the Town Hall and local prison, the Severo Portela Museum is dedicated to the work of the Almodôvar-born painter who left a significant mark on 20th-century Portuguese art.
The museum brings together paintings, drawings and studies by the artist, whose works can be found in museums and public buildings throughout the country. The museum also includes an exhibition dedicated to the former shoemaking trade and traditional footwear, preserving important memories of local identity and heritage.
