The settlement of Mesas do Castelinho received products from the most diverse places!
Already in the Iron Age, amphorae from present-day Andalusia were imported - they were used to sell fish preparations, olive oil or wine. But beyond these vessels, Greek ceramics also arrived here - used as tableware - from Attica.
From the 2 nd century BC there is a new reality in the history of Mesas do Castelinho: during the Roman advance in the Iberian Peninsula, vessels from the Italian Peninsula began to arrive, especially ceramics from Campania. And this black lacquer ceramics has here one of the largest assemblages at national level!
